We are fortunate to have dedicated EAL teachers in Scoil Mhuire Brierhill who support pupils learning English as an additional language. Their role is to:
- Provide targeted language support to help children develop confidence and fluency in English.
- Work closely with class teachers to ensure pupils can access the full curriculum.
- Value and affirm each child’s home language and culture, recognising them as important parts of their identity.
- Support children in developing the language skills needed for social interaction, learning, and participation in school life.
Our aim is that every child learning English as an additional language is fully included in the life of the school, feels supported in their learning, and is encouraged to celebrate their own cultural and linguistic heritage while building new skills in English.
