Arts Education

Arts Education gives children opportunities to express themselves, explore their creativity, and develop confidence. It plays an important role in wellbeing, communication, and imagination, while also nurturing children’s appreciation of culture and the arts.
The Arts Education area includes three subjects:

  • Visual Arts: exploring drawing, painting, print, clay, construction, and fabric and fibre. Children learn to use different materials and techniques while developing their ability to observe, design, and create.
  • Music: developing skills in listening, performing, and composing. Children enjoy singing, playing instruments, and responding to a wide variety of musical styles and traditions.
  • Drama: using role-play, movement, and storytelling to encourage self-expression, empathy, and confidence in communication.

In Scoil Mhuire Brierhill, the arts are also integrated across many other subject areas, allowing children to explore topics in a rich and creative way that connects learning across the curriculum.
